September 7 marks the one-year anniversary since the first exhibition “Private Museums of Russia. Talents of Russia”

Exactly a year ago, on September 7, 2019, in pavilion 4.1 of the Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Center, the first exhibition in Russia started, which brought together more than a hundred owners of private museums from all over Russia, from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka, within the exhibition “Private Museums of Russia. Talents of Russia”. The exhibition intended to show all the diversity of the folk culture of Russia and its regions, to introduce traditions and discover new knowledge about the history, geography and culture of our vast country. The exposition included several thousand unique exhibits, many of which have never been presented in Moscow before. The event became an undoubted highlight of the Moscow City Day celebration program. For two days, September 7 and 8, over 30,000 guests from all over Russia and more than 300 owners of private museums visited the exhibition, in addition to those who took part in the exhibition itself.

Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, attended the opening ceremony. He noted the important role of private museums in the Russian cultural sphere and wished the exhibitors, real nuggets, the development and prosperity to their museums. “Those who put their labor, time, talent, knowledge, and financial resources to leave the memory of generations about those priceless treasures that our country has and which our culture has created. Thank you very much!” said Medinsky. In addition, the opening ceremony was attended by State Duma Deputy Natalya Pilyus, archpriest, chairman of the expert council on church art, architecture and restoration of the Russian Orthodox Church Leonid Kalinin, director of the Association of Private Museums of Russia and exhibition organizer Alexei Shaburov, and director of the Sokolniki Recreation Park Andrey Lapshin. All the guests noted an undoubted importance of the exhibition “Private Museums of Russia. Talents of Russia”.

In 2021, the Association of Private Museums of Russia plans to hold an even larger exhibition “Private Museums of Russia. Talents of Russia – 2021”. Soon, the team of the Association will begin preparations for the event.
