A film about private museums in Russia

From September 7 to 8, in Sokolniki, the exhibition “Private Museums of Russia. Golden nuggets of Russia” was organized on a grand scale. The author of the project and the director of the Association of Private Museums of Russia, Alexei Shaburov, managed to collect under one roof more than a hundred private collections together with their owners from all over the country – from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka. The project was supported by the Ministry for Culture of the Russian Federation, and the Minister of Cultural Affairs of Russia Vladimir Medinsky came to the opening ceremony of the exhibition. In the course of three days, the exhibition was visited by 30,000 people.

It all started three years ago. Then in Sokolniki people began to prepare for expeditions, the purpose of which was the search for the most interesting private museums. In the course of painstaking work, an electronic catalog was formed. Each page of this catalog had to be personally verified. For this, several groups of travelers set off across the expanses of the Motherland.

The first series of the film tells about three unique Russian private museums – the museum of the manufacturer Dumnov from the village of Zarechye, the Kovrov Motorcycle Museum “Moto Kovrov”, the “Emalis” Museum from Yaroslavl. Each of them is unique in its own way, each exhibits unique pieces, some of which are impossible to find anywhere else in the world.
