A museum from the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia will be featured on the REN TV federal channel on February 11

Journalists of the REN TV federal channel became interested in the Memorial House of the artist Mikhail Potapov in Solikamsk. Most of Potapov’s paintings are depicting Ancient Egypt. Once, after seeing a painting by Potapov, the famous Soviet scientist Vasily Struve said,

“Only an ancient Egyptian master could create something like that. You are an ancient Egyptian artist risen from the dead.”

Potapov only smiled at his words. He had indeed seen the life of Mesopotamia with his own eyes! Just in his past life. The artist believed that he was an incarnation of Meritaton, daughter of the Pharaoh of the New Kingdom Akhenaten and Queen Nefertiti. It was through her eyes that he saw the scenes depicted in his paintings that are now on display in the Hermitage and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt among other museums. Interestingly, Mikhail Potapov was a deeply religious man. He was ordained, painted icons and churches.

How did all this co-exist in one person? Is reincarnation real and can you have memories from past lives? These topics are explored in an investigatory documentary, in which the story of Mikhail Potapov is told by his student Sergey Lapin, the owner and chief curator of his museum in Solikamsk. The film was shot this summer during the visit of the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia to the Perm Region.

The documentary presenting the Mikhail Potapov Museum in Solikamsk will be broadcast on REN TV on February 11 at 18:00 as part of the cycle The Most Shocking Hypotheses. The author and director of the film is Alexander Miloslavov.
