The Nizhny Novgorod Museum of Cold War and the history of Gorky from 1946-1991, 12+

Friends, this Saturday, April 1, the Nizhny Novgorod Cold War Museum will host a grand author’s tour of all Museum exhibitions, “The Mystery of the Iron Curtain. The closed city of Gorky”.

At the exhibition you will learn a lot of new facts about the Soviet period in the history of our country and the city. They will tell you about secrets and mysteries of the most ambiguous period of the modern history – the cold war epoch, about underground bunkers and civil defense formation, about scientific and technical achievements that made Nizhny Novgorod land famous and many other things!

You learn about unique discoveries of the XX century and their service to the Motherland, about the industry of our city and region, how the closed city of Gorky was built and developed. Numerous expositions on the history of various Soviet things are at your disposal – from a gas mask and a Kalashnikov rifle to the world’s most powerful flame thrower, from a dosimeter to the first television sets produced in our city, from a radio to discoveries in chemistry, everyday life items and children’s toys. There are so many exhibits and even more stories associated with them.

Thousands of exhibits await you! Everything can be touched, examined in detail and photographed. Our guide will tell you many interesting facts about the history of the XX century that you didn’t know about!

Entry fee: 300 roubles. The museum is located at: Nizhny Novgorod, 154 Gagarin Ave., Prioksky district museum, entrance from the side of the avenue.
