“Museum without borders”, a creative project by the Vyatka Museum of Samovar

“Museum without borders” is a creative project by the Vyatka Museum of Samovar, aiming at attracting children and young adults to the museums. The project seeks to increase attendance, improve perception, reinforce the importance of museum in social life. As part of this project the Museum organizes travelling exhibitions to the regions where the craft of Samovars and other copper and brass gear manufacturing was once prominent. The exhibitions take place at ocal history museums. Local history societies and local government are also  involved. Together with local history museums we are creating shows presenting the work of Vyatka brass and copper craftsmen of the end of 19th century.

In the current circumstances the development of folk art culture is a complicated and controversial process. Its relevance is due to the crisis in national art crafts, poor interest in local history museums exhibitions and the importance of preservation of culture traditions.
