On November 23, within the interregional industrial forum PROM-ENERGO-VOLGA’2022 the Cooperation Agreement within the Metrological Educational Cluster of Rosstandart was signed between FSI Volgograd CSM and the Volgograd Historical and Technical Museum of Weights and Measures.
The initiative to create the Metrological Educational Cluster of Rosstandart to expand vocational guidance for schoolchildren and students started in late 2021 in 10 pilot regions of Russia, including Volgograd.
The Volgograd Museum of Weights and Measures has extensive experience in conducting excursions as part of educational tourism on the subject of ‘Physics’ for schoolchildren, on ‘Metrology. Profession of Metrologist” for students of higher and secondary educational institutions.
The museum also carried out joint activities with the regional metrology centre. “We have been closely cooperating with these enterprises for many years, holding all kinds of joint events. I am sure that our cooperation within the framework of the Cluster will enable us to solve issues of career guidance for future metrologists in an active and interesting way, to stimulate interest of schoolchildren to the science of measurement,” Mikhail Pivovarov, Director of FSI Volgograd CSM, emphasized interaction with the museum and Volgograd Weighing Equipment Plant.
In addition to the fact that the Volgograd Historical and Technical Museum of Weights and Measures has a unique collection of ancient weights and measures, its main objectives are to preserve, study and promote the world history of weights. Thus, the unique project of Rosstandart – the Metrological Educational Cluster – became another platform for us to achieve them.
Volgograd Historical and Technical Museum of Weights and Measures is a member of the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia.
