Kolodezi Museum

On September 22, 2021, the director of the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia Alexey Shaburov, during his business trip to the Kaluga region, visited a farm and a museum under construction in the village of Kolodezi and met with Vladimir Alexandrovich Geraskin, the owner of the museum and a real gem. There are no words to describe what appeared before the eyes of Alexey Shaburov and his assistant, it was a collection of unique artifacts, created or restored by a real Russian talent, wholeheartedly devoted to his work: rare ancient machines, including one of the first German-French screw-cutting lathe of the 19th century, restored anchors, with the most significant of them being an anchor by General Electric Company, and a beautiful art object, a work in progress — a giant wheel composed of antique metal wheels of different epochs. In total, there are more than 2,000 unique historical objects, collected and restored by his golden hands, in his collection.

The idea to build the collection was born about six years ago when Vladimir began visiting museums in our country. After many years of working as a CNC machine operator at the Moscow Khrunichev plant, Vladimir has mastered a rare and important craft. He loves working with metal and can notice significant but subtle details that go unnoticed by ordinary people. Today, Vladimir Geraskin’s collection is ready to welcome its first connoisseurs in the Kodezi Museum. The museum charges fees for admission and guided tours, but it is the case when the price does not matter because it is just as important to visit this museum as it is to know the history of your country.
