The Museum of World Languages has a major renovation planned for 2023. There will be a separate section devoted to the history of long-distance communication, which will include such unique exhibits as original talking drums from Africa, wooden slot drums from Papua New Guinea, a system of naval signal flags, an optical telegraph and even a bell tower made of Russian church bells. In addition, several palm leaf manuscripts from various Asian countries, original Sumatra shaman books and bamboo calendars, a jade Taoist heavenly book from China, a prayer scroll in Ge’ez from Ethiopia and a number of other exhibits and installations have been added to the museum collection.
The Museum of World Languages is a member of the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia.
