June 19 was a truly festive day for the village of Kokshamary, Zvenigovsky district. On that day, the regional festival “Rainbow over Kokshaga” was held there in observance of the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, as well as the national holiday Peledysh Payrem dedicated to the 475th anniversary of the village.
A member of the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia, the Ecomuseum of Yuliy and Galina Seledkin Family Dynasty took part in the celebrations.
Local artists and folk music groups from Tatarstan and Chuvashia performed for residents and guests of Kokshamary.
The celebrations included a Friendship Round Dance, and the opening of a monument to the Symbol of Dignity, Strength and Will.
Among the guests of honor was the Deputy Chairman of the State Assembly of Mari El, delegate for the Sosnovy single-member constituency No. 24 N.N. Kozlova. She sincerely congratulated residents and guests of the village on the anniversary. Natalia Nikolaevna stated that the main treasure of the village was its kind and hospitable people. “Everyone who has ever visited the village and had a taste of Kokshamary’s hospitality, will certainly become a regular guest of this wonderful land,” said Natalia Kozlova.
