The Gem Rainbow Historical and Mineralogical Museum

When I was given my father’s collection of Chukotka agates, which he had started collecting in 1968, my wife and I agreed that we should share this beauty. Moreover, by 2005 we had accumulated a considerable personal collection that included exhibits from the fields of paleontology, mineralogy, archaeology, and numismatics.

Our start was made possible by a grant for the creation of the museum in 2005.

In 2006-2007, travelling exhibitions were held at educational institutions in the Barguzinsky district. In 2009-2012 travelling exhibitions were held at the city-museums in Ulan-Ude and at the Academy of Culture.

In 2017, the museum received the gratitude of the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Buryatia for the invaluable contribution to internal and inbound tourism on the territory of the Republic of Buryatia.

We are currently engaged in research and awareness-raising activities.
